At least for me a week of afib/aflutter at 100-110 Bpm wiped me out. First cardi conversion got me bac in rythem. But my regular beat is 54. Good luck to you.by tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks for info on Diltazem . I have been taking 100mg of flec twice a day plus metoprolol since 2008 — 15 years. Have had only a few short episodes per year until this year when I had one that required my first cardio version. Doing fine since, but suspect ablation could be in the cards? Weight 150…age 77…. very symptomatic. Thanks you for this web site and the informative posts.by tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey, Thank you….Yes, I believe it is EF. And the left ventricle. The percentage was very low, but the doctor was hopeful — because I had done about 10 minutes on treadmill test 3 weeks before I had the recent week of afib— the percentage and heath of LV might improve now that I am out of afib and slowly getting back on track. Hopefully, the poor performance of the LV on the TEE abby tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM

I have been away from the forum as Flecainide has kept my Afib limited to a few short episodes per year (since 2008) with the exception of last year when I had longish one (for me) of 24 hours long..that converted on its own. I have had a pacemaker since 2008. Very Recently, I had a longer episode - 7 days - and I had to get my first cardio conversion. With the afib in play, going up stairs aby tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
Tweez, Yes, I remember how down right scary it was when I got my first few episodes. And, yes, in retrospect, my stressed state at the time was probably a factor. And for me being worried only compounded my psychological situation…but when you are in a symptomatic episode it rules or when you are worried another one is around the bend. George, Thanks for taking the time to reply. I meant to type that I have had no episodes in the last 2 years (the pacemaker records them). Thanks,Tibbarby tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
Since 2008 (13 years ago), after a series of 2-4 hour episodes once a week or so, the Dr put me on 100m of Flec twice a day. And put in a pacemaker (I w 61 at the time) I have been on Flec ever since. During the first 5-10 years after being on Flec daily, I might get a brief 2-4 hour episode one to 4 times a year. The last 2 years I have had no episodes, so on my own, I cut back the Flec toby tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jackie, Thank you Jackie. By the the way, I, too, not knowing I had the start of a 2 year undiagnosed Lyme disease trip—— (test, I requested when i had symptoms in 2015 was negative. I did know you could get tested too soon. My dr said I did not have it so, I ignored six weeks of chills, etc as some virus. Then when my knee blew up in 2017, was tested again.)——, had aby tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
I have been taking Flecainide for 12 years daily. Is there a long term side effect? Is there a newer drug that one should consider. From to time, I wonder if I still really need it or if I should cut dose in half. Thanks to forum contributors and wishing all dealing with afib well. Tibbarby tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM

I have been on 100mg of flec twice a day (and 25mg metoprolol, lisinopril, and warafin) since 2008 when (rightly or wrongly I agreed to a pacemaker because I had fainted when converting back). Knock on wood, I have -- so far -- only had about a episode every year or two. One may have been tied to Lymes Disease I had in 2015. But because an episode does me in so ( I am 73 luckily in good healthby tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
Lorraine, What a hard journey. Any one with symptomatic afib identifies with what you are going through. You are good to take the time and detail out your experience so far So helpful to have Shannon and Carey in your corner. Joe Hare.by tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM

Carey, Is it common after your heart has been racing (130) for 24 hours plus and then it goes back to a normal (60) and after a few days during which you got your energy back, for heart to still sort of ache a little?by tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
Thanks greyhound. Valuable topic and info. One of my first episodes was after 2 hour extraction of 15 year old dental implants, Tibbarby tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
Just to add/embellish, luckily, in times past the afib episodes I have had were usually under 2 hours ( I have not had many of that duration or longer in the last 7 years (except one I had when I got Lymes in 2015),......but when in afib, I am very symptomatic and distressed — sea sick, anxious, BP bouncing, tired, headache, etc.. I think in afib my heart rate may vary more in its speed duringby tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
Jon, Thank you taking the time to write that up. Very helpful to those of who have never had an ablation. Tibbarby tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
Carey, Wow. Thanks for taking time to give such a detailed reply. EP said that cardi-conversion was needed and he scheduled it. Thankfully I converted naturally before the next days scheduled trip back to hospital. My BP machine has, I believe in times past been accurate, and in times past me taking my pulse would show irregular. This time not.by tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
Hi All, With Flecainide working for many years (2009), I have been lucky with few and far and between short episodes (and no need for ablation???), but this weekend I was in a heart beat run averaging about 125BPM or 36 hours or so. When I went to EP Monday, he said a cardio conversion needed to be done (this was going to be a first for me), but that night HR went back to my normalby tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
When I was getting afib regularly, I did start to have IBS symptoms. They went away when afib drug, flecainide, took hold. Drug has worked for the most part, I have had a couple of afib episodes. I keep my fingers crossed. Good luck Mickey d Tibbarby tibbar - AFIBBERS FORUM
