Breakthrough heart sugary at Chermside (Brisbane Qld.) Prince Charles hospital. Published in our community area newspaper ”The Quest Northside Chronicle”: -

Two young boys were the first in Queensland to go through cardiac cryoablation procedure
to correct arrhythmia. A Queensland. Health person said Australia did not have the expertise or experience
to safely carry out the procedure on a child.

Canadian cardiologist Joel Kirsch was brought in for the minimally invasive procedure. Only the second time it has been performed in Australia.

“In cryoablation a thin catheter of tube is inserted into the heart. Dr Kirsch said the tip of the catheter freezes a small area of heart muscle a –75 deg. c enabling cardiologists to destroy the abnormal electrical connection responsible for the arrhythmia. There are no stitches of incisions and if successful fully recover within days with no further fears of arrhythmia disrupting their daily activities. The success rate of cryoablation is about 90 percent. Arrhythmia occur in children who are either born with an extra electrical connection between the top and bottom chambers of the heart or have an abnormality in the hearts usual conduction system.”

Nice to know we are getting some progress in our neck of the woods-no details on costing etc.
Happy and safe Xmas all hope there is much NSR. David S vlaf, 66 yy.
