Blood Pressure and Beta Blockers
October 09, 2003 12:41PM
How many on here have been told they are either high low or normal blod pressure. When being prescribed Beta Blocker i notice they vary. As i had expiecenced a couple of years ago being put on Atenolol for something i never had made my pressure drop quite a bit. But i know Sotalol was for normal to low presure.

Just curious as to what the other meds are for.

I have always had low blood pressure. Without meds I am now about 90/60. On beta blockers and sotalol my blood pressure often went very low - 70 - 80/30ish. Beta blockers are prescribed not only for heart arrhythmias but high blood pressure too. So it makes me wonder why they put those with low blood pressure on them willy nilly.

Fran,

I'd LOVE to know what some of our trans-Atlantic friends make of the terminology "willy nilly"!!

Hi, over there

We use the term "willy nilly" over here, too. Is there a meaning that I/we don't/should know about?
