alivecor / QT

alivecor / QT

I am always wanting to try natural stuff but I am on dofetlilide and so I have concerns about QT. I was wanting to try CBD for bed or even some THC (my insomnia is terrible). I have the 6 lead alive-Cor but my dos said that doesn't tell QT interval. While looking up the device for a friend I came across this little link that apparently it can be used with a clinician to evaluate QT. I mean I wouldn't want to take something I KNEW would increase QT but on questionable items, I wonder if it could be useful. Also has anyone used CBD,THC or CBG who are on a QT increasing drug or who has prolongated QT interval? Thanks.

Perhaps they mean the Kardia won’t automatically annotate the QT interval like an expensive clinical machine would, but anyone skilled at reading EKGs could measure it even from the two-lead device. Less than 400 milliseconds is safe and it should shorten with increasing heart rate. There a several formulas for the “corrected” QT interval, known as QTc, but the linear one is the easiest and would be fine with the Kardia.

What wolfpack said.

And tell your doc there's this thing called the internet now. It has stuff like this: https://www.mdcalc.com/corrected-qt-interval-qtc. A Kardia tells you all you need to know to fill in those boxes.

I bought this in 2005 from eBay. It’s from Germany. It shows QRS and ST reading that was spot on when my former ep compared it to his 12 lead. I know it won’t suit your purposes for QT evaluation but perhaps there is a gadget out there that will show the QT without buying a 12 lead ekg machine.

I was encouraged to buy CBD from CBDmd.com for sleep. Be sure to use the 20% coupon. My concern was eliquis and CBD. Old studies show it interacts but my ep said it’s safe. The dose for the gummies is 10mg a night to work up to no more than 30mg. It has a very long half-life so the dose may not work the first few days but then the accumulation will kick in. I am not taking it post ablation but during flutter and af it really calms one and great for sleep.

Thanks- I was going to write him right now but I am trying not to email docs in the middle of the night anymore as I did that a couple nights ago to my GP on ambient...it wasn't working except I was totally out of it... it is one way to get your doc to call you- send a only semi- coherent message and spell your name wrong. I'm looking at that now (the link) and am going to do a strip in the morning to see if I can figure out the QT myself. thanks

Thanks for all the info. I do have a good CBD that I like (a couple really) and I'm totally not sleeping right now. I for sure want to try it ... I will look at that brand though.

This image shows what the interval is and how to measure:

I'd make a pdf & print it out & work on the paper. Your AliveCor will use an X or time scale of 25mm/sec. On your AliveCor graph, the space between dots is 1mm, 5mm between light lines and 25mm between heavy lines.

Just remember the “little boxes” are 40 milliseconds. I wish they’d just write that on the paper!

Nice George - I understand how to do this now.

The odd thing about the graph is the "RR" interval, as drawn/shown, is really the "QQ" interval. Not that it makes a difference here, as the distance is the same, but the "R" peaks are usually much easier to pick out.

Good point wolfpack!

{EDIT} Use Chrome, Opera or Firefox as a browser and not Safari - I just tried Safari on my MacBook & it doesn't work. The images won't load in the article either.

{EDIT Round 2} - in Safari, click Develop on the top menu, then uncheck "disable images." This won't show the images in the afibbers site, but should show the image if you click this link: [link.springer.com]

It is from this article. Can you load and see the article linked below? I wrote this on Chrome on a MacBook.

Well I only got to see the NP for my video appointment a couple days ago. He would not use the alive-cor to see what the QT is.. and he also told me not to do CBD as it can increase the QT. IDK. all these guys work in a vacuum. I was talking to him about xeralto and how I can't take ibuprofen (frozen shoulder). Plus my hemorrhoid (TMII?) is having bleeding and he said they only take people off when they are to the point of having a blood transfusion. Im suppose to see another heart specialist as well re something else and they work in a vacuum too. I am glad I have a vid visit with my congenital guy on Friday. He will talk me down lol. Also going to ask him more details about ablation for my specific instance. I'm doing good at the moment but I would like to be trying some additional things for pain and sleep and alas that is not a possibility when on dofetilide and xeralto. (Sleep has been HORRIBLE.. I'm awake now for the second time tonight which is a new one. Usually it is just once for awhile..)

I am going to take a scan and try and do the calculation myself just so I am familiar though.

Yes, they work in vacuums. It’s a sad fact of medicine sometimes. By all means educate yourself about EKG readings and practice with your Kardia. We’re here to help. And then just humor the white-coats when they suggest you’re stupid. We’ve all been there.

Thanks. I think I'll take a read and try and calculate it myself and maybe see if anyone wants to see if I did it right. The NP scared the crap out of me this week. sigh.. I have my appt w. my congenital card tomorrow (who I love) and going to discuss more. He is a little less in his own vacuum.
