Hail mary ECV ?

Hail mary ECV ?
June 29, 2020 10:31PM
I'm on the schedule for ablation in late August. By that time I'll have been back in continuous AF for 90 days. I am thinking I'd like to break it up a little by having one more ECV.

Although I can't find a single thing about it (link between K and AF), rechecking my Amazon purchases showed me that I also started taking Vitamin K complex about a week before my first AF event. I stopped taking K about 10 days ago so should be clear of it by now.

So I am considering one more ECV (#3) and doing one of the following

a - stop all meds but Eliquis
b - a + mg supplements
c - a + b + multaq
d - no ecv but try PIP flec and diltiazem
e - some other combo I am not thinking of ?

Although the least likely success would come from a - it has the beauty of only 1 confounder and if NSR sticks the lesson might be 'it's not nice to fool with mother nature'

c would probably be the best but it's a hollow win. If the AF was caused by K - then no way of knowing if NSR is caused by multaq or by lack of K. And if I can't have natural NSR then an ablation does make sense.

d - unlikely to work after so long AFAIK

I'm leaning towards a or b.

I have a whole month to detox from all supplements before I might do the ECV.

Thanks for any help.

You're very good at overthinking things, aren't you? winking smiley

I've lost track of what meds you're taking regularly, and since you mention both Multaq and flecainide, I'm really lost. I hope you're not taking both.

My advice would be Multaq OR flecainide and then cardioversion. The supplements probably don't matter at all so do what you want with them.

NLAMAF:

You've sort of already did C. right?

Exatest result? Re-anylyze....

If Mg is low (probably), then B., or alternatively D. then B.

I did do C but was still taking K at that time.

Mg should be right. I'll have a lab before to be certain.

I don't see any harm from taking Mg.

I lean toward B as well.

That's a solid maybe.

I would bet against it, but it can't hurt to try.

EP said no, but it did work for me to convert 2.5 month episode. I concur with Carey.
