Would you risk COVID-19 and having an ablation at this time?

Who would have an ablation in a hospital and risk the CV-19 (yes I know it’s not the proper abbreviation but it’s late and I’m lazy) within the next 30 days if you live in a hotspot state vs waiting it out a couple of months until it’s contained?
Just curious.

This is an ablation question otherwise I would post in General.

I wouldn't unless I was very Symptomatic. Elective or non-essential procedures may be declined anyhow, as our hospitals become overcapacitated and overwhelmed.

I worry about Natale flying around CA one week a month plus he travels outside the country to train. I remember him being in India around the time I had my first ablation last fall. I hope he will be OK.

No one is going anywhere this year.

I would bet he'll be unusually at home like the rest of us.

I went to Europe 7x times last year. Only one so far and only 2 more trips on schedule for 2020.

Yeah, international travel would be extremely risky right now. You probably can't go where you want to go, and there's a good chance you won't be able to come back if you do manage to get there. I doubt he's risking that. Even domestic travel could be iffy. Several states are considering measures to limit out-of-state travelers.

Thanks for sharing. I’m stable for the moment so it’s not recommended according to your second link to go through with it in April.

That's a really useful chart! What's the original source?

Even if hospitals are screening visitors, new report that up to 50% of carriers do not display symptoms. So IMHO it’s riskier to be admitted or even visit.

No hospital in this area is allowing visitors at all.

My cousin lives near Yosemite NP. His 98 year old mother in law, who has lived with him for 10 years, broke her hip. Hospital was 2 hour drive away. She went to hospital in ambulance. He drove to be with her and wasn't let in.

My 32 year old son, with glioblasoma, had a seizure 12 days ago. He went to ER on ambulance. They did let his wife in, but would not let her leave his room. Later that day, they stabilized him with electrolytes and did discharge him. That was 12 day ago. Not sure they'd let her in today.

Yeah, I've heard some sad stories of people in their final days of terminal illnesses and their relatives not being allowed to be with them. This must be particularly hard in Children's hospitals.

Sorry to hear about your son. Best wishes for him.

All US Military hospitals and clinics are postponing elective surgeries and procedures for 60 days.
