Noise throws the heart out of rhythm

Something else to look into a little deeper.

Noise throws the heart out of rhythm, a new scientific survey has found.
Atrial fibrillation is on the rise.

This heart rhythm disorder causes a rapid and irregular heartbeat and a health study by experts from the Department of Cardiology at the Mainz University Medical Center have found that people subjected to extreme noise annoyance are 23% more likely to experience it compared to just 15% without this environmental impact.

Noise generates stress. Stress favours afib.

If I hear a loud sudden noise it often makes my heart skip a beat. Exaggerated startle response I believe.

I'll see how noise(loud music) affects me Thursday night. Going to a Metallica concert with my son.

I will. Saw them during their Fuel tour with my wife. Was a great concert at 1/4 the price :>). It's ridiculous what it costs to go to a concert these days.

Saw Iron Maiden from the front row (barrier) last summer, so I got blasted, pushed, squeezed, shoved, you name it. No a-fib.

Wow, is this the Gen-X afib thread or what? eye popping smiley

Hi Todd - Long ago when my AF first began, I saw Michael Flatley perform... had front row seats... Downside was the seats were below the stage level which was at least 20 feet higher... the speakers extended from floor to the stage level...and the 'vibrations' plus loudness set off my AF. Paid extra for the front row seats and ended up moving to the side of the balcony where no one wanted to sit... Great show but the AF persisted into the next day. That was my only exposure to sound/vibrations of that magnitude but it certainly remains memorable on many levels.

I saw Iron Maiden with Paul Dianno in 1980. smiling smiley
On topic, rumbling bass vibrations used to cause me problems. Same with rumbling motors like in a hot tub or truck.
Up the Irons!

Up the Irons!

DiAnno is a fossil now. Saw him maybe 5 years ago at a local dive bar. Dude can barely walk. Sad testament to what a lifetime of Jack Daniels and cocaine can do to you.

Bruce Dickinson - airline pilot, Olympic fencer, and author - was, and is, a much better frontman!

Serious Gen-X thread... Apologies...
