Warfarin may prevent cancer

The researchers found that individuals who used warfarin had a 16 percent reduced risk of all cancers, compared with people who did not use the drug.

Looking at organ-specific sites, warfarin use was linked with a 31 percent reduced risk of prostate cancer, a 20 percent reduced risk of lung cancer, and a 10 percent lower risk of breast cancer.

Interesting (says the woman who takes Warfarin). But it also notes that the study was observational. It'll be interesting to see if specific studies hold this up.

I think that just means that they haven't proved causation. Interesting that the warfarin subgroup was 8 years older, so you'd expect higher not lower rates of cancer.

"In cancer models, warfarin inhibits AXL receptor tyrosine kinase–dependent tumorigenesis and enhances antitumor immune responses at doses not reaching anticoagulation levels."
