Before I begin to whine, this story is my inspiration: [

In short, A-Fib ablation(s) by the top rated Austin, TX enterprise solved nothing. EP allowed a NSR 125 heart rate to continue untreated for 3+ months until a giant A-Fib event erupted. I chose A-V Node ablation w/pacemaker. Life was much better, BUT...........a cardiomyopathy had begun (left ventricle extremely dilated) - heart failure had set in. Subsequent heart failure specialist has suggested that EP's inaction regarding the 125 pulse was the prime cause of my heart failure. My fighting back is this: I weighted 240 lbs in 2007 - today, I weight 175 (I'm a 6 footer). Only booze is about 3 oz. red wine daily. Daily exercise is 3 miles treadmill, then 1 - 2 miles indoor walking track then maybe 20 min. on the NuStep machine. I don't really work up a sweat but I eventually tire after a couple hours of this. I can lie flat on my back in bed without choking, no signs of edema in the ankles or anywhere else. Being a warfarin user along with the Lupus anticoagulant antibody makes things more interesting. But, I've been warned, one day I will begin going downhill and there's nothing I can do about it. What can I really look forward to?
This is his answer to me:
St. David's - Austin

Hi, Liz! My $0.02 from experience: An EP by the name of Bailey from the Texas Cardiac Arrythmia Institute performed 4 atrial ablations on me in the 2010 - 2011 time frame at St. David's - 32nd St. Austin. The TCAI EP who performed the A-V Node ablation for me was Dr. Burkhardt. At the same time, the cardiologist assigned to me was. E. Chafizadeh. My first post on this thread clearly explains my experience. Would I reccomend either Bailey or Chafizadeh? No Way!! I would, however, recommend Dr. Burkhardt.
BTW: I've heard from others that Bailey describes himself as the "master ablater." -- I could play with that description!
