coronary artery calcium score test
May 16, 2018 12:30AM
My GP wouldn't give me a referral for CACA (coronary angiography). While i'm aware of limitations of this screening method (if there is high calcification?) i only got a referral for a coronary calcium score test. It is 34.
Can't really figure out how to reduce that to 0? Has anybody been successful reducing their calcium deposits and how?

I may be delusional but i think afib is a combination of problems (mitochondria, endocrine imbalance, epigenetic, brought about by lifestyle/diet) and without addressing the basic problems ......

Hi Joe - I totally agree with you.

Are you aware of the use of the vitamin K component... menaquinone 7 or MK7 to help remove calcium buildup? I learned about this from Ralph Holsworth, D.O. when I was looking for information about nattokinase as an alternative blood thinner and Dr. H. was the leading expert in the US on the NK enzyme. He told me about using MK7 with patients who had been on long-term warfarin... as that's all there was for an anticoagulant back then... almost 20 years ago... and there was the complication of tissue calcifications as a result of using warfarin.

Dr. Holsworth had consulted with a research group at the University of Maastricht, Netherlands, who were working on the MK7 to reduce and eliminate the calcifications and he shared that info so I could share with other afibbers who were also using warfarin. However, whether or not you're using warfarin... the MK7 is the way to go.

Follow the links listed at this search... and specifically that which refers to Leon Schurgers, PhD and/or Cees Vermeer, PhD... or MenaQ7... I'll get into my files and find the links I have which give the details as well and I'll post them here soon.

Jackie:

I had asked Dr B. about MK 7, he doesn't carry it in his vit. store, he said he hasn't found a good one. In the 5 books of his that I have there is no mention to take that vit. I quit taking it some time ago as I think it may also caused some of my Aura Migraines, knock on wood I haven't gotten any in a while.

Jackie, thank you very much for the heads up on MK7!
I was sort of aware of MK7 but not sure how it would affect thrombus formation given my potential return to afib at any time? I think it doesn't but i'm still uncertain.

I have been eating 40g of Natto/day thanks to what i've learned on this sitethumbs up

Cant wait for the Netherlands Heart Foundation study results. Looks to me to be a very well planned study.

Wonder if one can take too much MK7. I do have some 90mcg tablets but haven't been taking them because of doubts.

Joe - the MK7 or menaquinone 7 form of Vitamin K .... does not work on the coagulation system. Neither does the MK4...

You can take the 90 mcg tablets... the dosing goes up to 200 mcg. The Netherlands researchers I mentioned have been at this a long time and they have given talk and published papers on the efficacy of MK7. I can dig out the reports if you are interested in reading... just let me know. This is not a new idea but many doctors aren't familiar with the importance of and benefits of MK7.

Thank you Jackie!
My GP isn't familiar with MK7 i suspect - i'll ask him next visit.
He did ask me if i was willing to see a specialist if my CCS turns out to be high and if i'm prepared to take statins if the score is high?confused smiley

Jackie, if you happen to come across the results of their latest study (or the one i linked to) i would appreciate reading it.

Joe - I'll send you what I locate. Stand by. Note that in the study link you provided ... among the researchers are the two well-known researchers from Maastricht ... Drs Vermeer and Schurgers.

The statins are a bad move as they don't eliminate the calcium deposits and have other side effects that don't improve your health...although, they certainly are very popular with doctors. I'll find some links on that as well. Give me a day or two.

Joe - Check out Whitehaven's recent post on using Coumadin... In my response just now, I gave several links to past reports on Vitamin K2 MK7... that should be useful for you. I have a couple more that I'll send to you separately as well.
Pressed for time at the moment. Back soon.

These links are all favorable, they are in the tank for MK7, Mk7 is made from fermented soybeans which I for one cannot take.

The MenaQ7 by NattoPharma is free from soy allergens...

The new MenaQ7 fermentation-process
starting materials and excipients are
soy free and hypoallergenic.

Hi Joe,

How long have you been eating Natto (fermented soybean)? 40gms a day should be more than enough, that's about 400mcg vitamin k2, and about 2000 FU's of Nattokinase.
Plus you would be getting all the other benifets from Natto.
I have also been eating Natto and would like to compare results.

Colin

Hi Colin,

For about 4/5 months. Wondering if it slows down my thyroid function? My TSH was 5.72mIU/L last week. Anti-Thyroid Peroxidase and Anti-Thyroglobuline are low (good).
Still, i'll continue with eating Natto and watch other goitrogenic food i can eliminate. Preferable to pharma anti-coagulants at this stage.

Have you noticed any Natto effects, Colin?

Joe:

Yes, Natto is made from soybeans, soy is a no, no for Thyroid people, Natto is made from fermented soybeans so not quite as bad as just plain soy. Nevertheless, it probably will affect the uptake of your thyroid hormone, maybe you could take a little iodine like Lugos iodine.

Hi Joe,

I have been eating 40gms of natto (food) every 2nd day for about 2 months now.
I got afib after 2 weeks then nothing. Its still early days but i am hoping it stops afib for good like it has for Dean.
There have been some noticeable effects,
1 my nails are growing faster and stronger.
2 my skin is looking better, less dry. No winter itch now.
3 I have noticed some skin tabs and warts are disappearing.
4 the most unexpected thing is my bald head is growing hair again.

So some good things are happening.

I think the thyroid problem is small and can affect people in different ways. Its to do with the amount of Isoflavon in the bean. Fermented soybeans contain about half as much as does unfermented soybean. So you would need to keep an eye on your TSH levels.
It is good idea to take iodine as Liz has mentioned.
There is available black Natto which is produced using black beans and that contains no Isoflavon.

How do you eat you Natto?
I have found it to be quite palatable and not as disgusting as I expected it would be, and it doesn't small at all like rotten socks.

I have mine on a piece of buttered toast and sprinkle cajun seasoning then chew it down with a cup of tea. Its a bit dull otherwise.

Thanks Liz! I just keep may guard up on that. Taking iodine supplements scares me a bit because when i first had afib i was my thyroid was hyper - a trigger for afib?
Instead i eat some seaweed and fish regularly and see how i'll go.

That's fantastic side effects, Colin!
Can't say i've noticed any of them. At least not more of my hair has fallen out - i think?smiling smiley

I eat natto straight with the little mustard and sauce provided. Actually like the taste of it. Even my grandson eats it since he was 10/12 months old.

Don't know if natto has an effect on keeping afib at bay? I 'm just hoping it keeps my blood from excessive clotting. If it does the first it would be a bonus!
