All of what the link above says may be true but it would have more credibility to me if they would somewhere list their sources, their backgrounds, expertise to make the inflammatory statements, large point vibrant headlines, repeats, inferences etc. A little scientific proof by a known reputable firm would go a long way to validate.

Anybody can say anything anytime and if they say it often enough and loud enough some will believe it.

Any idea who or what GMO-Awareness 2011-2014.com is? I can find nothing further on the web site, company, individuals or anything past 2014 regarding them except an inflammatory Facebook page with an old talk by Woody Harrelson again repeated.

Gordon - In my other awareness alerts on GMOs, I've referenced Jeffrey Smith, of Institute for Responsible Technology, as being an recognized and respected as an expert in the field. He has a website and many video clips.

Jeff Smith and Mike Adams are good reporters/messengers spreading the GMO facts which are confirmed by Dr. Seneff and others – a few credentialed names listed below.

Why? Evidence points to glyphosate toxicity from the overuse of Monsanto’s Roundup herbicide on our food.
For over three decades, Stephanie Seneff, PhD, has researched biology and technology, over the years publishing over 170 scholarly peer-reviewed articles. In recent years she has concentrated on the relationship between nutrition and health, tackling such topics as Alzheimer’s, autism, and cardiovascular diseases, as well as the impact of nutritional deficiencies and environmental toxins on human health.

At a conference last Thursday, in a special panel discussion about GMOs, she took the audience by surprise when she declared, “At today’s rate, by 2025, one in two children will be autistic.” She noted that the side effects of autism closely mimic those of glyphosate toxicity, and presented data showing a remarkably consistent correlation between the use of Roundup on crops (and the creation of Roundup-ready GMO crop seeds) with rising rates of autism. Children with autism have biomarkers indicative of excessive glyphosate, including zinc and iron deficiency, low serum sulfate, seizures, and mitochondrial disorder.

A fellow panelist reported that after Dr. Seneff’s presentation, “All of the 70 or so people in attendance were squirming, likely because they now had serious misgivings about serving their kids, or themselves, anything with corn or soy, which are nearly all genetically modified and thus tainted with Roundup and its glyphosate.”

Dr. Seneff noted the ubiquity of glyphosate’s use. Because it is used on corn and soy, all soft drinks and candies sweetened with corn syrup and all chips and cereals that contain soy fillers have small amounts of glyphosate in them, as do our beef and poultry since cattle and chicken are fed GMO corn or soy. Wheat is often sprayed with Roundup just prior to being harvested, which means that all non-organic bread and wheat products would also be sources of glyphosate toxicity. The amount of glyphosate in each product may not be large, but the cumulative effect (especially with as much processed food as Americans eat) could be devastating. A recent study shows that pregnant women living near farms where pesticides are applied have a 60% increased risk of children having an autism spectrum disorder.

Other toxic substances may also be autism-inducing. You may recall our story on the CDC whistleblower who revealed the government’s deliberate concealment of the link between the MMR vaccine (for measles, mumps, and rubella) and a sharply increased risk of autism, particularly in African American boys. Other studies now show a link between children’s exposure to pesticides and autism. Children who live in homes with vinyl floors, which can emit phthalate chemicals, are more likely to have autism. Children whose mothers smoked were also twice as likely to have autism. Research now acknowledges that environmental contaminants such as PCBs, PBDEs, and mercury can alter brain neuron functioning even before a child is born.

This month, the USDA released a study finding that although there were detectable levels of pesticide residue in more than half of food tested by the agency, 99% of samples taken were found to be within levels the government deems safe, and 40% were found to have no detectable trace of pesticides at all. The USDA added, however, that due to “cost concerns,” it did not test for residues of glyphosate. Let’s repeat that: they never tested for the active ingredient in the most widely used herbicide in the world. “Cost concerns”? How absurd—unless they mean it will cost them too much in terms of the special relationship between the USDA and Monsanto. You may recall the revolving door between Monsanto and the federal government, with agency officials becoming high-paying executives—and vice versa! Money, power, prestige: it’s all there. Monsanto and the USDA love to scratch each others’ backs. Clearly this omission was purposeful.

In addition, as we have previously reported, the number of adverse reactions from vaccines can be correlated as well with autism, though Seneff says it doesn’t correlate quite as closely as with Roundup. The same correlations between applications of glyphosate and autism show up in deaths from senility.

Of course, autism is a complex problem with many potential causes. Dr. Seneff’s data, however, is particularly important considering how close the correlation is—and because it is coming from a scientist with impeccable credentials. Earlier this year, she spoke at the Autism One conference and presented many of the same facts; that presentation is available on YouTube.

Monsanto claims that Roundup is harmless to humans. Bacteria, fungi, algae, parasites, and plants use a seven-step metabolic route known as the shikimate pathway for the biosynthesis of aromatic amino acids; glyphosate inhibits this pathway, causing the plant to die, which is why it’s so effective as an herbicide. Monsanto says humans don’t have this shikimate pathway, so it’s perfectly safe.

Dr. Seneff points out, however, that our gut bacteria do have this pathway, and that’s crucial because these bacteria supply our body with crucial amino acids. Roundup thus kills beneficial gut bacteria, allowing pathogens to grow; interferes with the synthesis of amino acids including methionine, which leads to shortages in critical neurotransmitters and folate; chelates (removes) important minerals like iron, cobalt and manganese; and much more.

Even worse, she notes, additional chemicals in Roundup are untested because they’re classified as“inert,” yet according to a 2014 study in BioMed Research International, these chemicals are capable of amplifying the toxic effects of Roundup hundreds of times over.

Glyphosate is present in unusually high quantities in the breast milk of American mothers, at anywhere from 760 to 1,600 times the allowable limits in European drinking water. Urine testing shows Americans have ten times the glyphosate accumulation as Europeans.

“In my view, the situation is almost beyond repair,” Dr. Seneff said after her presentation. “We need to do something drastic.” [www.anh-usa.org]

Don Huber, MS, PhD is likely the leading GMO expert in the world. He is an award-winning, internationally recognized scientist, and professor of plant pathology at Purdue University for the past 35 years.

His agriculture research is focused on the epidemiology and control of soil-borne plant pathogens, with specific emphasis on microbial ecology, cultural and biological controls, and the physiology of host-parasite relationships.
His research over the past few decades has led him to become very outspoken against genetically modified organisms (GMO) and genetically engineered (GE) foods and the use of Roundup in agriculture in general.

He’s really one of the best scientists we have in the GMO movement for documenting the dangers of genetically engineered foods.

Three Things You Need to Know About GMOs
There’s a lot of confusion about the basic validity of concerns about genetically engineered (GE) foods. Many have been deceived into thinking that there’s really no difference between GE foods and conventional fare, and all these worries are just paranoid fear-mongering.
According to Dr. Huber, the following three facts are some of the most important that everyone needs to understand about GMOs:

1. Despite what the media and so-called “experts” proclaim, there are NO peer-reviewed scientific papers establishing the safety of GMO crops.

According to Dr. Huber, so far, no one has been able to establish that there’s a safety factor to either the genetically engineered proteins (i.e. the foreign proteins produced by the genetically modified plant) or the chemicals we’re consuming in ever larger quantities as a result of the genetic engineering process.
There are, however, both clinical and peer-reviewed scientific papers showing the hazards of GMO crops, including harmful secondary effects.

“A group of us met with top USDA administrators. They assured us that they based all their decisions on peer-reviewed science. When we asked them if they would share any of that, they were unable to produce any,” he says.

2. Epidemiological patterns show there’s an identical rise in over 30 human diseases correlated with our increased usage of glyphosate and the increased prevalence of genetically engineered proteins in our food.

3. Genetically engineered foods, as well as conventional crops that are heavily sprayed with glyphosate (the active ingredient in Monsanto’s herbicide Roundup), have lower nutrient density than organic foods. They also contain high amounts of pesticides with documented harmful health effects, along with novel, highly allergenic, proteins.

Here’s an informative interview with Jonathan Latham, a scientist with a master's degree in crop and a Ph.D. in plant virology, sheds much-needed light on this issue about: Scientific misconduct and fraud: most of us have no concept of how they influence our food. Together with his wife, Allison Wilson, who is also a scientist, he founded the Bioscience Resource Project, an organization with a mission "to provide the highest quality scientific information and analysis to enable a healthy food system and a healthy world."

He's also the editor of Independent Science News. Part of his career was spent doing medical research in the genetics department at the University of Wisconsin. He also worked in the U.K., where many of his coworkers were proposing ambitious research projects designed to alter soil microbiology and cure plant viruses using novel transgenic techniques.

As explained by Latham in the video, when you make a transgene, you take different parts of genes from different organisms, and you put them together to (hopefully) get them to do what you want them to do.

Once a transgene performs according to expectation, it is used to develop commercial transgenic plants carrying that particular feature. However, Latham noticed that the end results were frequently potentially very dangerous, both to plants and people, which made him question the purpose of it all.

"There were people proposing ideas in molecular genetics and genetic engineering that were incredibly ambitious and interesting to think about from an intellectual perspective, but really quite scary if you thought about what would happen in the real world," he says. Then there is Attorney, Steven Drucker, author of Altered Genes, Twisted Truth, with the revealing subtitle: How the Venture to Genetically Engineer Our Food Has Subverted Science, Corrupted Government, and Systematically Deceived the Public. Steven Druker, is the attorney who filed a lawsuit in the late '90s challenging the most important action the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has taken in this area: its presumption that genetically engineered (GE) foods are Generally Recognized as Safe (GRAS) and can enter the market without a shred of safety testing.

There is no question in my mind Monsanto GMO foods are not healthy but with the money they have, they are able to obfuscate so many “scientists” that this risk to our health will go on for some time.

Please know that Monsanto was able to spend possibly $100 million and save their company when California had it on the ballot to require them to just label it so it went down in smoke. That could have stopped this nonsense but money beat facts.

Now GMO foods are facing an attack in Washington, as well as New Mexico. We cannot let them continue to destroy the food supply of this country without fighting back! They clearly led to the increase in children’s asthma by 40% in just the first year they were introduced in one country.
Food sensitivities do not start out of thin air but if you are ingesting Bt you will impair the integrity of the gut leading to leaky gut and subsequent health problems. Then too often someone will treat you with a useless and often dangerous drug that does little to help, as it is ignoring the cause. Food sensitivities are at the top of my FIGHT program because contributing undiagnosed food issues are always there. The leakier the gut the more nutritional deficiencies will develop.

I use my power drink with Zeogold and a probiotic every day to try to overcome the fact that I am on the road and not able to live the organic life necessary.

We can go on and on but please look at the money trail of these guys. They're not all that altruistic. They seem to be establishing their own organizations and taking good money from the gullible public. Sort of Mercola-ish.

Can we really consider comments and recommendations of Jeffrey Smith and Mike Adams to have any validity considering their own backgrounds and lack of qualifications or any personal research.

I own this great bridge crossing San Francisco Bay that my research has indicated will be the only thing surviving the next big earthquake, which we all know is coming soon. Obviously it will generate a great deal of income for its owners for years. I have a very few participations left at only $1,000,000 each. Insure the future of you and your family now with this one simple investment.

Enough from this low information Roundup user. I rest my case.

I just revisited the topic GMO: Ticking Time Bomb, October 2012, which you contributed to, and was reminded of how appallingly uncivil that became. I do want to remind the readers, and you, of the statement in the video by cell biologist epigeneticist Bruce Lipton PhD which I carefully transcribed for your benefit hoping we could have a civil discussion based on science. I don't really care what you think. I do care very much about readers getting straight information, so this is for them.

What we understand from epigenetics -- the new science of how environmental signals control our genes -- we’re introduced to where do the signals come from that select the genes and modify our genetic activity? Well, we used to say that everything is due to the genes, but now we find that a class of molecules called “micro RNA” – they’re very small RNA molecules and they’re found in all the cells -- and these micro-RNA molecules are molecules that adjust the reading of our genes and change the readout of the genes. Well, a new understanding about the micro-RNA molecules says this:

When we eat food, the micro-RNA from the food is picked up by the digestive system and not broken down. The micro-RNA is taken into our own body intact, and now what they’ve found is that the micro-RNA from food ends up in our own cells - like in our liver and other cells in our body - and these micro-RNAs still have the same function: they change our genetics and they change the readout of our genome. And the significance is profound: it says when we eat genetically modified food we’re eating a new class of micro-RNAs that have never been in the world before, and yet these micro-RNAs are picked up by our biology and adjust our own genetics, so in a sense the old story “we are what we eat” actually now has a biochemical foundation. And now all of a sudden you can say if that’s true, why would you risk your life eating a genetically modified food containing micro-RNAs that can totally destroy our own biology and cause great problems in our lives?"

Gordon ~ Jeff Smith and Mike Adams are good reporters passing along important information for everyone as awareness alerts.... better to be aware and cautious rather than be completely blind-sided by the obfuscation of important information. Let's not disparage or 'kill the messengers.'

The GMO Food Danger that No One Is Talking About

When I hear people defend the safety of genetically modified (GM) foods (or GMOs, as they’re often called), I can’t help but feel my blood pressure rise.

Like everything, GMO foods have their pros and cons. Being able to reliably grow more food throughout the world is certainly a benefit. But as a doctor, I’m vigilant about the unintended consequences of tinkering with Mother Nature.

That’s why I was happy to read an editorial in the New England Journal of Medicine called “GMOs, Herbicides and Public Health.” Its authors, Philip J. Landrigan, MD, of the Department of Preventative Medicine at Icahn School of Medicine (NY), and Charles Benbrook, PhD, of the Department of Crops and Soil Services at Washington State University, get it. They point out an indisputable danger of GMO crops that not enough people are talking about—the use of more and increasingly potent pesticides.

Landrigan and Benbook acknowledge that reviews by the National Academy of Sciences, in 2000 and 2004, showed GM foods pose no unique hazards to human health. However, they go on to point out that those reviews focused almost entirely on the genetic aspects of biotechnology—and then rightfully observe that “the argument that there is nothing new about genetic rearrangement misses the point that GM crops are now the agricultural products most heavily treated with herbicides and that two of these herbicides may pose risk of cancer.”

GMO Crop Pesticides Linked to Cancer

If you’ve followed me for any length of time, you know that I believe pesticides are the top environmental threat to health. Multiple cancers, as well as Parkinson’s disease, asthma, and birth defects, have been associated with exposure to these chemicals.

In fact, two of the pesticides often used on GMO foods have been identified as dangerous by the World Health Organization’s International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC):

* Glycophosphate, the herbicide most commonly applied, has been classified as a “probable human carcinogen”

* 2,4-dichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4-D)—a component of the Vietnam-era defoliant Agent Orange—has been labeled a “possible human carcinogen”

Considering how ubiquitous GMO foods are, this alone should be alarming. But the story Landrigan and Benbook tell gets darker.
