Catering for stroke risk as we get older

Gentlefolk,

A apparently healthy friend of my sons aged 26 just had a massive stroke so it can happen at any age but of course far more as we get older even without actual fibrillation.

However we analyse the figures there is a certain risk and of course more with older people in afib.

I am completely by myself a few days a week so what should I do? I am a healthy nearly 81-year-old and my only medication is low dose Eliquis.

My partner and my 29-year-old son have a key as part of normal practice.

So what else?

Aspirins, emergency beeper et cetera et cetera.

What do different people use in a prudent way?

Thanks

Alex

Hi, A.
Started thinking about this myself a couple of months ago.
Wife and I have been keeping regular ASA with us whenever we're out. She has it in her purse. I keep mine in the car, and in the insulated lunch bag I use to carry my water bottle.
I also posted a reminder on the refrigerator about the signs of stroke, and the importance of calling 9-1-1 promptly.
Any other ideas anyone?

Hi A. Just saw your post.

It's aspirin.

Hello Larry,

Thanks for that.

What's the detail? How many should I take immediately I am showing symptoms or whoever is with me rams them down my throat.

Then rings whatever is the operative emergency number in the country in which the sufferer resides.

Hoping no one will have to make that decision.

Alex
