Author, Richard D. Moore, MD, PhD.

This is science-based information that figures strongly in arrhythmia, actually a 'missing link', and is therefor a significant part of Jackie's 'The Strategy' [www.afibbers.org]. The book's concern is with all body cells and systems, so the title may seem a bit misleading.

Quote:

"The low ratio of potassium to sodium in the typical American diet is one of the biggest - perhaps even the biggest - cause of bad health in our country.

"Because this dietary imbalance results in a corresponding imbalance in every cell in the body - not just those regulating blood pressure - and because it is so vital to healthy cell function that potassium and sodium be balanced, I had predicted in the 1980's that this common dietary imbalance would be a cause, or at least a factor in several other disease states.

"Not until about 1995 did anyone look for these other problems. Thus far, the other consequences of a low dietary K/Na ratio include not only essential hypertension (which is about 95% of the cases of high blood pressure), but also stroke with or without high blood pressure, increased risk of osteoporosis and kidney stones, stomach ulcer and stomach cancer, as well as others mentioned below."
